Only one year after its creation, Wilma unveils an innovation that will open the doors of cycling even wider. The French brand is revolutionizing women’s cycling shorts by integrating the Bloody Queen menstrual pad. Made from a combination of technical layers, the aptly named pad absorbs menstrual flow while allowing perspiration generated during exercise to escape.

Bloody Queen thus combines all the technicality of the inserts used by Wilma in the manufacture of its comfortable bib shorts and long-lasting hygienic protection. The pad absorbs the equivalent of two tampons for heavy flow without leaving moisture or stains on clothing, providing 6 hours of peace of mind for riding! For maintenance, the bib shorts are simply rinsed with clear water before machine washing at 30°C.

Céline Champonnet, creator of Wilma, explains the origin of Bloody Queen:
“When I had the idea to create Wilma, I wanted to help women in their cycling practice. Every product I thought of had to have a truly useful function and purpose for women and with a real commitment to responsible design. It was early 2020, right in the middle of the menstrual underwear revolution. A first strong observation: nothing of this type existed for women who regularly cycle. The idea of the menstrual pad was born! The creation of this pad is a real step forward for the emancipation of women by freeing them from the mental load, stress, and constraints that menstrual cycles can generate for practitioners and high-level athletes.”

While sanitary protection produces tons of toxic waste year after year, the menstrual pads made in Italy by Wilma are both the promise of total freedom during rides and an act of responsible and sustainable consumption.

The Bloody Queen range unveiled this Wednesday, March 30, is available for pre-order in limited quantities at a preferential price on the Wilma website in a shorts format (in black and cedar) at a price of €85, or bib shorts (in black and aubergine) at a price of €109.
