Since its creation in 1984, the Roc d’Azur has never stopped innovating. The 38th edition will be no exception. In parallel with the races that have made the event famous and successful with all mountain biking enthusiasts, the Roc d’Azur 2022 experience has been further enriched.
Conquering the Estérel Massif
On Friday, October 7, the Rando Roc Estérel, the Rando Roc Electrique Estérel, and the Rando Roc Gravel Estérel, three new rides designed on the heights of Saint-Raphaël, will offer participants the privilege of enjoying the beauty of the massif. On the program: a start and finish at the Cap Estérel village in Saint-Raphaël, and the choice for participants in the XC events between three distances (22, 29, and 38 km) in the heart of the ocher rocks with, around a bend, magnificent panoramic views of the Mediterranean. A special feature of these three rides, traced on technically accessible routes for everyone, is the possibility of adjusting your distance during the event according to your form, the weather conditions, or simply your desires. Participants in the Rando Roc Gravel Estérel can choose to ride 47 km or extend the effort up to 50 km and even 58 km.
Trail running arrives at Roc d’Azur
Outdoor sports enthusiasts form a large family, often sharing the same values. After the arrival of Tri Roc in 2012, Roc d’Azur wanted to open the celebration to a new audience. For this 38th edition, three trail running events will complete the program on Saturday, October 8. Nature running enthusiasts will start from Roquebrune-sur-Argens for events of 16 km (positive elevation: 515 m), 32 km (960 m D+), and 44 km (1,500 m D+). On the two longest distances, the small trails will lead participants to the magnificent Rocher de Roquebrune which stands above the Argens plain and offers exceptional panoramic views. An extraordinary horizon, a wonderful welcome gift for trail runners.
And still the must-sees!
Participants will, of course, find all the traditional events of the Roc d’Azur: Rallye Roc XC and Roc Trophy (one event per day for five days) from Wednesday, Tri Roc on Thursday, Canyon Roc Marathon (last stage of the UCI MTB Marathon Series) and Roc Ruelles de Fréjus on Friday, Rando Roc Noire, Rando Roc Déguisée, Gravel Roc, Kid Roc for the youngest or Roc Tandems on Saturday and, as a grand finale, the Roc d’Azur on Sunday with nearly 4,000 racers, including some of the world’s best, happy to conclude their season in the south of France.
The Roc exhibition, a hub for new trends
All the biggest brands in mountain biking and outdoor sports will be present at the Roc d’Azur exhibition. This is an opportunity for thousands of daily visitors to discover and test the latest innovations, meet champions, and benefit from the advice of the best specialists. They can also walk through the aisles of the exhibition to the rhythm of the numerous activities offered every day. Because the Roc d’Azur is above all a great celebration.
