“We have been committed to supporting athletes in pursuing their passions since the introduction of the first fēnix 10 years ago. We remain true to this mission by continuing to offer them new and ever more innovative tools,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin Vice President of Global Consumer Sales. “The fēnix 7 series brings new and unique innovative multisport features. With this new generation of watches, athletes have a cutting-edge tool to achieve their goals.”

Design and performance

Built from premium materials such as titanium and sapphire crystal, the fēnix 7 series is available in three sizes. To create a break from previous generations, its bezel has been completely redesigned by extending the watch lugs, and the main button’s frame has been reinforced. The new touch interface simplifies navigation and function use, offering more intuitive use of integrated topographic maps.

Among the many models offered by this new series, the introduction of Sapphire Solar models allows for both greater autonomy and an ultra-scratch-resistant Sapphire lens. The solar energy capture area has been significantly increased so that fēnix 7X solar models have a battery life of up to 5 weeks in smartwatch mode and up to 135 hours in GPS mode.

Finally, an LED flashlight has been integrated into the fēnix 7X model to improve user comfort and safety. When run mode is activated, the light adapts to the runner’s cadence, alternating between white and red with each arm movement, to see, be seen, and move with complete peace of mind.

Advanced training

This new model allows for a higher level of training thanks to numerous sports applications ranging from climbing to swimming, strength training, and much more.

Among the new functions available:

  • The real-time “Stamina” function is an innovation offered by Garmin that allows athletes to monitor their endurance level during a running or cycling activity to better manage their effort over time.
  • The “Visual Race Predictor” function takes into account the athlete’s running history and general physical condition to provide race time estimates and information on training progress.
  • The “Recovery Time” function takes into account training intensity and other factors such as stress, daily activity, and sleep to estimate the number of rest hours needed for recovery.
  • The “Daily Workout Suggestion” proposes a recommended running or cycling workout based on current training load, training status, and overall fitness level.

Reliable tools

Equipped with Garmin’s full suite of navigation features, the fēnix 7 series is compatible with all satellite systems and offers, on Sapphire Solar versions, the multi-band option that uses the L5 frequency range for improved accuracy in challenging GPS environments. All fēnix 7 watches are preloaded with SkiView™ maps of ski resorts and 42,000 golf courses worldwide. Sapphire Solar models are preloaded with multi-continent TopoActive maps. They allow free Wi-Fi download of any region of the world directly from the watch.

Finally, the new “Up Ahead” function displays all navigation data on a single screen, such as the direction to take at the next turn, the exact locations of aid stations, POIs, etc., to improve comfort and safety. During a race, this page can display data previously recorded on a course, such as the distance to the next aid station, checkpoint, water point, etc.

Daily utility

Designed for daily use, this new fēnix 7 series integrates health and wellness tracking features, including the Pulse Ox sensor, wrist-based heart rate tracking, respiration and stress tracking, Body Battery energy monitor, Fitness Age, and sleep analysis and score. This function identifies different sleep stages and assigns a score from 0 to 100 on sleep quality, taking into account information on activity level, stress level, and bedtime. Paired with a compatible smartphone, the watch can display numerous notifications with the option to disable them during an activity. Safety and tracking features ensure peace of mind during outdoor workouts with automatic incident detection and manually triggered assistance alerts, which send a message with real-time location to emergency contacts. Users can access Garmin Pay contactless payment solution and enjoy playlists from streaming services such as Spotify, Amazon Music, and Deezer preloaded from the Connect IQ™ platform.

Price and availability

The fēnix 7S, fēnix 7, and fēnix 7X models, with standard (non-solar), Solar, and Sapphire Solar edition options, are available starting from €699.99 (recommended retail price).
