With a track record like Javier Gómez Noya’s, boasting five triathlon world championship titles, an Olympic medal, and four European championship titles among many other achievements, maintaining the motivation to take on new challenges might seem difficult. Yet, in 2022, this extraordinary triathlete is not only still hungry for new challenges, but he has also chosen to partner with Orbea to tackle his ambitious goals alongside the Spanish brand.
After a brilliant career that has distinguished him as one of the best triathletes in history, Javier Gómez Noya and Orbea have decided to combine their respective experiences as an athlete and a manufacturer and, together, give their best. Javier Gómez Noya had already announced that after closing the Olympic chapter of his career, he would tackle long-distance triathlon in 2022. Orbea, for its part, unveiled its new triathlon bike, the Ordu: the bike Gómez Noya will ride in the coming years. As part of his training, he will also use the recently launched new Orca Aero frame, as well as the Oiz mountain bike.
“It is an honor to announce our partnership with an athlete like Javier, but even more so given the synergy between us. At Orbea, we like to create close, rich, and lasting relationships that go beyond a simple sponsorship partnership. Our collaboration with Javier is undoubtedly one of those examples,” says Iñaki Ucín, Orbea’s sponsorship manager. “Furthermore, he will bring all his experience and knowledge to contribute to the development of our triathlon and road products,” concludes Mr. Ucín.
“From the first contacts I had with Orbea, I felt a very good energy between us and a real willingness on their part to join forces and allow me to give my best in this new long-distance oriented stage. I am very happy to continue my sporting career with such an iconic Spanish bike brand,” the triathlete emphasizes.

The competition is fast approaching
After announcing last year that he planned to embark on the long-distance adventure, Javier Gómez Noya is already preparing for the season on his new Orbea Ordu, with the goal of qualifying for the long-distance world championship, the Ironman Kona, and the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in St. George.
His first race will take place in a few days in Chile, at the Ironman 70.3 Pucón, where he will debut on his new Orbea Ordu. “The bike was one of the main reasons that led me to make this change. I feel very comfortable on the Ordu, which is an essential factor for middle and long-distance races,” concludes Javier Gómez Noya.
