A few days before the new year, Pirelli announces a new sports partnership with another UCI World Tour cycling team: UAE Team Emirates.

The team, which boasts a very high-level group, starting with Slovenian Tadej Pogačar, will use Pirelli tires in 2022 and 2023 and will be able to choose between P ZERO RACE TLR tubeless tires or the tube-type version and the ultra-light P ZERO TUB SL tubulars. The recently formed UAE Team ADQ women’s team will also ride on Pirelli tires.

The partnership is entirely Made in Italy and brings together two great names in Italian sport for the first time: Colnago and Pirelli. The famous manufacturer based in Cambiago, near Milan, has chosen Pirelli for the team and its bikes: in the near future, the Colnago range will be equipped with tires from the Milanese company.

Technical development remains, as always, a central aspect of the collaboration with UAE Team Emirates, as rider feedback will help Pirelli design increasingly high-performance products for the many passionate cyclists.

New and familiar faces will come together for this purpose. Among Pirelli’s “veterans” are Dane Mikkel Bjerg, who has already won a time trial world championship (U23, Harrogate 2019) with the Milanese company’s tires, and Italian Matteo Trentin (silver, also in Yorkshire the same year). The Italian rider also contributed, through his feedback, to the development of P ZERO tires from their first appearance on the World Tour in 2018.

Matteo Trentin’s comment: “I’m really happy to race with Pirelli again next year. This collaboration is important for me, as I was one of the first riders to test and race with Pirelli after their return to cycling with bike tires. Since then, in just a few years, they have become one of the market leaders with, in my opinion, probably the best tires on the circuit. The team and I are really excited about this new step.”

Matteo Barbieri, General Manager of Pirelli Cycling, stated: “Pirelli’s commitment to the world of professional cycling is becoming even broader and more important today. With this new partnership, we are not only celebrating the arrival of our tires in a new World Tour team, but we are signing an entirely Italian agreement that will put our tires on the bikes of one of the most prestigious names in cycling: Colnago. It is an honor and a source of pride for us. This agreement also represents a new technical collaboration that will help us create increasingly high-performance products for professional and amateur riders.”

Nicola Rosin, CEO of Colnago: “This is a partnership that fills us with pride, because we are talking about Pirelli, the absolute benchmark brand in motorsport and which, in cycling, has now embarked on the path of excellence and product innovation. We are ready to win together.”
