ASICS announces a major new recruit to its ranks: triathlete Kristian Blummenfelt. In 2021, the Norwegian won gold at the Tokyo Olympics, the World Championship title, and the World Triathlon Championship Final in Edmonton.
Kristian started triathlon in 2008 and joined the Norwegian national team in 2009, with his eyes set on an Olympic gold medal. He achieved several podium finishes in World Triathlon Series stages in 2017 and has been steadily improving ever since. Last November, he even broke the Ironman world record in his debut in Cozumel, Mexico.

The partnership with ASICS is a natural fit for the Olympic champion, who was already running in the famous Metaspeed Sky. “From my first strides in this model, I felt that the sensations were totally different from the other shoes I had tested. On the track, I improved my times with each lap, compared to my previous reference times. At this level, you can’t say no to such energy return,” said the Norwegian, before continuing: “I am very happy to join ASICS. The brand’s philosophy, ‘Sound mind, sound body,’ resonates deeply with me. Running for me represents freedom and allows me to disconnect from the world. Running calms my thoughts and although it is a simple activity, it helps me find balance between body and mind.”
Olivier Mignon, Sports Marketing Director at ASICS EMEA, stated: “Kristian’s performances over the last year have been incredible to watch. Kristian shares our values and is a wonderful athlete who believes in the benefits of movement for the mind. We look forward to supporting him with our latest innovations in the years to come.”
