Nicolas Roux, record holder of the Tour du Mont Blanc on road and founder of Grupetto, has designed a route that combines the best of road and trail itineraries: the Gravel Tour du Mont Blanc. The organization will rely on the expertise of Wish One, the leading French gravel brand, organizer of two events in France in 2021 and the first French round of the UCI Gravel World Series in 2022. The event will take place on the first weekend of September 2022.

The route will alternate between rustic roads, rolling trails, singletracks, undergrowth, forest paths, and bike-carrying sections in a magnificent environment. It will appeal to experienced riders ready to brave the many difficulties of the course (8 mountain passes to cross, including 2 ascents over 2500 m: the Col de la Seigne and the Grand Col Ferret). Solid physical condition will be essential, as well as excellent technical skills, as riders will be on mountain trails most of the time.

A 2-person relay format (each relay rider covering half the tour) and the Half (approx. 100 km) starting from Courmayeur will also be offered. Additionally, during this gravel-dedicated weekend, a 70 km ride starting from Megève: the Gravel Tour du Mont Joly, will take place on Sunday morning.

A mythical place, Mont Blanc
Both on the road and on the trails, the Tour du Mont Blanc is a mythical itinerary, as evidenced by the success of events such as the Tour du Mont Blanc Cyclo (on road) and the UTMB (trails). The GTMB will combine the best of both itineraries, as gravel bikes allow riding on both roads and trails. The roof of Europe, between glaciers, torrents, valleys, and alpine passes, offers an opportunity to evolve in a unique, fragile, and above all demanding natural territory. With no less than 8 mythical passes to cross, including 2 ascents over 2500 m with the Col de la Seigne and the Grand Col Ferret, the course will undoubtedly be one of the toughest in the world over a distance of 200 km.

The route crosses three countries: France, Italy, and Switzerland, and will offer riders breathtaking landscapes. The start will be at night from Megève, the historic host of the MB Race VTT and the Megève Mont Blanc Cycling sportive.
