Trek Releases New Speed Concept, Its Fastest Triathlon Bike Ever

Trek introduces an all-new Speed Concept model, ushering in a new era of integrated aerodynamic design that helps triathletes go faster on the bike and during their run.

Over a decade ago, Speed Concept took the triathlon world by storm, disrupting the industry and establishing itself as the first true superbike. After tireless years of research and development, this new bike continues the tradition of exceptional race performance. With its incredible aerodynamic properties, triathlon-specific comfort technology, full integration of accessories and hydration, and modern front end, the new Speed Concept occupies a unique position. And it is the fastest bike Trek has ever tested.

Fully aerodynamic and faster than ever

The previous generation Speed Concept is still among the fastest bikes in the world, but this new model shows a speed gain equivalent to 16 watts, which translates to a six-minute gain for a traditional Ironman event. This kind of speed is only achievable through the experience of the Trek Performance Research team, who have dedicated years to optimization through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and the power of supercomputers.

IsoSpeed technology for more comfort

The IsoSpeed system’s pivot has been moved forward to account for triathletes’ tendency to place their weight forward, allowing the Speed Concept rider to take full advantage of IsoSpeed’s fatigue-reducing effects for a faster bike and run.

Wide range of adjustment

To accommodate the various positions a triathlete adopts on a bike, the Speed Concept offers an enormous adjustment window. Adjustments are simple. Most of them only require one or two Allen wrenches. In addition, removing the handlebars without changing the position is easy. Trek’s online fit tool allows riders to convert X/Y pad positions into the required components to achieve the desired fit.

Integrated storage and nutrition systems

To perform at their best, triathletes need to ride with provisions: water, powdered drinks, gel, food, flat repair kit, bike computer, and much more. With the Speed Concept, they can carry all of this without compromising aerodynamics, thanks to the following innovations:

Between-the-arms bottle mount

A bottle between the arms reduces air turbulence and allows the cyclist to hydrate without letting go of the handlebars. The bottle is also easy to refill on the bike thanks to an integrated silicone nozzle.

Bento box

The bento box integrated into the top tube can hold snacks for the entire race. Removable dividers allow the cyclist to customize the space, and the box as a whole is dishwasher safe.

Down tube bottle

This frame-mounted bottle has been designed not to disrupt the Speed Concept’s airflow. It has a capacity of 750 mL and is the perfect solution for carrying concentrated drinks to supplement the BTA bottle.

Discreet flat repair kit

The Speed Concept has a hidden storage space that is perfect for carrying an inner tube, a CO2 cartridge, an inflator, and a tire lever.

Only with Project One

The Speed Concept is only available with Project One, allowing triathletes to customize their bike and thus obtain perfectly calibrated adjustments, paint, and parts. The Speed Concept can be ordered today from the Trek dealer network.
