Orbea presents the new Terra, a bike designed specifically for gravel, for those who love riding on demanding surfaces without any compromise in terms of control and safety, and having fun exploring unpredictable trails. The new Terra is more efficient, comfortable, and precise, and it is customizable to your tastes and the terrain you ride on.

Since Orbea launched the Terra model in 2017, gravel has continued to grow and evolve. This practice has been mainly adopted by people who want to have fun and approach cycling in a different way.

Given this evolution and market research, Orbea offers a new model that will delight gravel enthusiasts: a fast and enjoyable bike on asphalt, efficient and easy to ride on gravel, and ready for light bikepacking. All this without neglecting performance: it’s not a competition bike, but it still offers that little extra that speed provides.

Gravel from the ground up

The leitmotif used by Orbea for the launch of the Terra is Gravel From The Ground Up. And indeed, it is a project conceived from scratch in terms of materials, geometry, and components, to offer a model capable of satisfying the dual objective of pleasure and capability.

Its design aims to satisfy three types of people: the pure graveler, who loves long rides and appreciates speed, comfort, and efficiency, regardless of the surface. The explorer, who loves to get lost in search of new tracks and shortcuts. And finally, the adventurer, who seeks long circuits, bikepacking, venturing into new territories.

A more efficient Terra

Orbea emphasizes that this bike is more efficient because it covers a wide range of uses, it can be configured for different terrains thanks to customization options and has a unique geometry that makes it comfortable and precise. Wherever you come from, you can configure it as you wish to make it your best ally.

Its versatility is such that you can mount 700c wheels with 45 mm tires if you are looking for speed and efficiency on rough roads. Or 650B wheels and tires up to 50 mm if you prefer durability, grip, and exceptional comfort, especially for light bikepacking.

Unlike most gravel bikes, the Terra’s specific frame allows for a wide range of gearing and tires without sacrificing tire clearance. Its design with asymmetrical chainstays means you can choose any crankset for a 1X drivetrain or a 2X drivetrain with a small chainring up to 34T.

Comfort and control in all circumstances

Gravel is a discipline where you can ride on roads and tracks today, and on dirt and gravel tomorrow. Your bike must be comfortable and allow you to maintain control in all these situations.

For this reason, every effort has been made to adjust the frame’s stiffness, to ensure comfort, regardless of the terrain you ride on. It has a shorter seat tube with a less pronounced angle that allows adequate flex of the 27.2 mm seatpost.

The amount of material in the seat tube and bottom bracket has been adjusted for optimal stiffness tuning. In addition, the Terra features a specific longer fork that helps absorb shocks and vibrations from the terrain.

Specific geometry for gravel

Starting from this blank slate, the geometry has been completely revised, to lengthen and raise it, to place you in an optimal position in terms of precision and control across the 6 available sizes, from XS to XXL.

The chainstay length has been reduced to 420 mm to optimize agility and acceleration. The bottom bracket height has been reduced to 78 mm for better stability and control on fast and rough terrain. To optimize handling, the new Terra has a longer reach combined with a shorter stem, an optimized head angle, which results in a trail adapted to each size.

Everything you need at your fingertips

A storage space designed for the new Terra, Orbea has called it Lockr. A space arranged in the frame allows you to store a spare inner tube, a pump, a Co2 cartridge, or tools.

In addition to space for two bottle cages of all sizes, the frame has a multitude of anchor points so that the bike meets all your needs: under the down tube for installing accessories and on the thru-axles for all types of mudguards, ensuring tire clearance up to 35 mm.

Cabling is another feature for which a clean, aesthetic, and silent solution has been imagined. It is perfectly complemented by the attachment of bags to the frame or handlebars for light bikepacking adventures.

Prioritizing customization

The Terra range includes seven carbon models in three different base colors. Then, the customization possibilities offered by Orbea are probably the most complete on the market: single chainring, double chainring, electronic, mechanical, Shimano, Sram, Campagnolo, Vittoria or Pirelli tires, adjustments according to your ergonomics or colors. Orbea’s offer is so complete that it is difficult to find such variety from another brand on the market.

For gravel, the handlebar is a key element. For this model, Orbea offers handlebars with a flare angle of 12 or 16 degrees. The OC Gravel handlebar with a 12-degree flare offers stability and control on descents. It is available in a compact and raised version for a more comfortable position. If you are looking for a handlebar with a larger flare, choose the Easton EC90 with a 16-degree flare.

The new models will be available to users from late autumn.
