POC Presents Its Lightest Sunglasses

The all-new Elicit Clarity cycling sunglasses have been developed to offer the highest levels of performance, with weight reduced to a minimum. Weighing just 23g, they are the lightest sunglasses ever produced by POC.

The Elicit model features a unique truss design on the temples, offering the perfect balance between weight and rigidity. Designed from bio-based materials, they maintain the required rigidity where you need it, closer to the lens, while offering greater flexibility around the head and ears for more comfort and security.

The reduced weight, however, is only one aspect of the unique approach taken in the development of the Elicit model, which also offers incredible protection and coverage, all of which has been subjected to rigorous testing, notably with professional cyclist Mitch Docker.

Oscar Huss, Head of Product at POC explains: « We are aware that every gram counts, which is why we set ourselves the goal of creating the lightest and most performing glasses possible, balanced by a large, modern protective lens, for improved coverage, visibility and protection. The easiest way to reduce weight would have been to reduce the size of the lenses, but this did not meet the performance expectations of modern glasses, especially from the point of view of protection and visibility. The Elicit model required atypical thinking and innovations from our developers and designers, and we are extremely proud of the result.»

Thanks to “click” hinges designed specifically for this model, changing lenses becomes ultra easy and quick, and will only take cyclists a few seconds. The frameless design of these glasses also creates a unique open feel, while still offering all the benefits of improved coverage.

The Elicit are lightweight, but they have also been designed to be resistant and usable in all conditions. Rider Mitch Docker, from the EF Education – NIPPO team, greatly contributed to their development process. He wore these new glasses at the highest level of competition, and in the most extreme conditions.

Regarding the glasses, Mitch Docker, rider for the EF Education – NIPPO team, said: « The Elicit are special, and their weight is extraordinary! They are so light that I forget I’m wearing them. And they are beautifully balanced. I’m a fan of large lenses and I’ve worn the Elicit in almost all weather conditions, including my last race, Paris-Roubaix, where the weather was really horrible. And they always did their job! I also find them very stylish, and it has been a real pleasure to work so closely with POC during their development. I particularly enjoyed testing them during my “Length of Sweden” tour this summer.»

To give an idea of their lightness, imagine that combined with POC’s lightest helmet, the Ventral Lite, you get a total weight of barely 200 g (approximately, for both). For riders focused on the weight/performance ratio, this is a considerable gain.
