A key player in cycling equipment for men and women, Ekoï unveils two new products straight from its research and innovation laboratory: the Ekoï by Tocsen fall sensor and E-Lens electronic glasses.

EKOÏ constantly offers new products, with approximately 50 new references each year. Behind this race for innovation lies Jean-Christophe Rattel’s (CEO and Founder of the brand) objective: to offer excellence to the greatest number of people.

A collection dedicated to women, comfort, safety, performance, aesthetics—the challenges are numerous, but the brand has no shortage of resources to constantly satisfy increasingly demanding and knowledgeable customers.

While cycling is experiencing unprecedented popularity, the number of accidents is also growing sharply. More than 60,000 cyclists were treated in a hospital in 2020, and 174 were killed. With this increase in accidents, more and more riders feel apprehension, even to the point of not using their bikes. EKOÏ had to find a solution…

With the EKOÏ by Tocsen sensor, you’ll never ride alone again

For several years, EKOÏ has been developing its products in collaboration with professional riders. Their demanding standards and expertise are a guarantee of quality for the general public. But how can their safety be guaranteed during their training rides?

The Ekoï by Tocsen sensor can save a life by automatically and quickly alerting a fallen cyclist’s loved ones by sending a message and their GPS position via their smartphone.

How does it work?

The EKOÏ by Tocsen sensor is activated with one click from a smartphone. If it detects a shock or a fall, the application displays a message asking how the cyclist is doing. If there is no response within 30 seconds, it automatically sends a rescue request indicating their exact GPS position to both emergency contact numbers (previously saved) and to people in the community who own a Tocsen sensor within a 2 km radius.

The TOCSEN application is completely free and requires no subscription. The sensor’s battery has a lifespan of approximately 3 months, so it does not require frequent recharging. It is also possible to trigger an emergency call independently.

“After testing several accident detection and emergency call systems on the market, TOCSEN stood out with its most accurate head collision detection without false alarms and its community of first responders in all sports such as cycling, horse riding, and winter sports. For quick first aid, anyone nearby who has downloaded the free TOCSEN app and joined the rescue community will be alerted in an emergency,” explains Jean-Christophe Rattel.

E-Lens, electronic glasses dazzling with technology

In the world of optics, this is a revolution: EKOÏ has succeeded in designing the fastest photochromic glasses in the world! Ensuring quality vision regardless of the weather or topography is also one of the brand’s safety objectives. To achieve this, it has used the latest technologies to develop a sensor and an LCD screen that react to changes in light in a fraction of a second.

Philippe Gilbert, EKOÏ ambassador and rider for the Lotto Soudal cycling team, states: “During a bike race, the weather or light can change abruptly. It is therefore essential to be able to count on glasses that are very comfortable to wear for 6 hours straight but also very reliable. I have already been able to test their performance in Belgian races with bright sunshine at the beginning of the day and heavy rain in the late afternoon. The lenses adapted instantly, and I was able to concentrate solely on my race. A real luxury!“
