Initially scheduled to take place in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, the 2021 World Championships will be held in France at the Jean-Stablinski Regional Indoor Velodrome. While less legendary than its cousin, the André Pétrieux Velodrome—the annual finish line of Paris-Roubaix—it is well-suited to host such an event, featuring a 250-meter track inaugurated in 2012.
France will therefore host these World Championships two times in a row, as the 2022 edition will take place in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, which will then be used again for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The national velodrome also hosted the last World Championships held in France, in 2015.
