Zwift Academy Road 2021: The Race for a Pro Contract Is On

Zwift, the global online fitness platform, is opening registrations for the 2021 edition of the Zwift Academy. The training program, popular with the application’s user community, is back for a sixth edition with some new features, but above all, an increasingly sophisticated talent detection program. And the stakes for those embarking on the race for a pro contract are high, as Canyon-SRAM and Alpecin-Fénix have renewed their commitment to Zwift. They will respectively welcome the woman and the man who have managed to stand out.

The most anticipated cycling training program of the year will be back on Zwift from August 30th. For thousands of Zwifters each year, the Zwift Academy is 8 weeks of immersive and very complete training aimed at helping them reach their best level.

In total, the Zwift Academy Road 2021 consists of 10 sessions which also give a good idea of what a complete training should be. Six structured training sessions target specific energy systems, while two recovery rides highlight the importance of rest. And, new this year, a course to be completed before the start of the Zwift Academy, then at the end of the program, allows for measuring the progress made.

All Zwift Academy Road finishers will receive a virtual cycling kit for their in-game avatar.

Beyond a training program that will allow Zwifters of all levels to significantly improve their performance, the Zwift Academy is a real talent provider for professional teams. In 2020, after several weeks of training and competitions, Jay Vine achieved the Holy Grail: a contract with the pro cycling team Alpecin-Fénix. Since his signing, he has put all the odds in his favor, securing a second place in the Tour of Turkey, and his spot in the Vuelta 2021.
