The Haute Route is the world’s leading series of prestigious multi-day races for amateur cyclists. Bringing riders from all over the world to the heart of the most beautiful landscapes has been part of the Haute Route’s DNA for 10 years now.
It’s hard to imagine a more iconic destination than the Dolomites, which, in addition to offering breathtaking panoramas with their majestic rocky mountains and snow-capped peaks, provide routes particularly suitable for cycling.
The Haute Route Dolomites thus captivated the public from its first edition in 2013. Since then, the organization has made it a point of honor each year to renew the experience by adding some new touches.
In 2021, the race returns with a new five-day format to make the most of this exceptional massif. The experience promises to be even more beautiful and the challenge greater with 451 km and 13,450 meters of positive elevation gain. Three stages will have their finish judged at the summit, at the Tre Croci, Gavia, and Stelvio passes, not to mention the final time trial traced on the climb between Bormio and the Cancano lakes.

230 riders, mainly from Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, the Netherlands, and Denmark, are preparing to take on the challenge. As with every Haute Route race, they will be able to rely on a level of service worthy of professional races with five mechanics, 30 masseurs, 30 safety motorcycles, and eight race cars that will be at their service.
“The Haute Route Dolomites 2021 starts in the Dolomites and finishes in the Stelvio National Park, passing through some of the best roads, climbs, and host towns that the Haute Route has visited in recent years, in addition to some new features. The Giau, Valles, Gavia, and Stelvio passes, to name just a few, offer breathtaking views, not to mention the final time trial to the Cancano lakes, which hosted a stage of the 2020 Giro d’Italia. The host towns are also host cities for the 2026 Winter Olympics, as well as the 2021 European Cycling Championships. Our local partners are delighted to welcome us to this territory of exceptional events, and the Haute Route is proud to help riders from all over the world (re)discover it,” Davide Marchegiano, Race Director.
