A HIGHLY ANTICIPATED REUNION

After a blank year in 2020 due to the health context, and despite somewhat capricious weather, organizers, volunteers, and participants were all delighted to finally be able to gather for a weekend. Throughout these 3 days, good humor was the order of the day!

LE RAID DES COPAINS: THE CRAZY CHALLENGE

New this year, the organization offered an Ultra formula of several hundred kilometers with a nocturnal section. Limited to 50 participants, the challenge of this race was to complete the first 2 stages of Objectif Puy de Dôme and Sunday’s event in less than 48 hours. The main imperative of this Raid des Copains: to reach the foot of the Puy de Dôme in total autonomy before 8:15 am on Saturday, July 3, 2021, in order to be able to climb it.

THE PUY DE DÔME

For this new edition, Les Copains-Cyfac had big plans! On Saturday morning, the events headed north to reach the famous Puy de Dôme, whose access was exceptionally open. Thus, the most daring of the weekend had the chance to exclusively tackle the eponymous volcano. This 485 m climb offered them, at the first light of day, an impressive view of the Auvergne massifs.

THE OTHER EVENTS

The Col du Béal: to be done in hiking mode or timed mode (round of the Grimpeurs-Goodicom trophy), this ascent was an opportunity to tackle the giant of Forez and appreciate the splendid view at the summit, despite the morning showers.

The stays: with half-board accommodation, luggage transport, and a hot meal on the circuit, the Objectif Puy de Dôme (3 days) and Au Pays des Fourmes (2 days) stay packages allowed hikers to fully enjoy their Auvergne cyclosportive weekend.

Sunday: on Sunday, cyclosportives had the choice between 5 routes ranging from 67 to 156 km. Béranger BROSSEL ultimately won the flagship event, Les Copains (156 km), ahead of Maxence JANODET and Mickaël BERAR, the defending champion.

LAUNCH OF THE CYCLO’TOUR ROTOR

This weekend also marked the opening of the Cyclo’Tour Rotor, with the first event of the season. After this start of the Challenge in the heart of Auvergne, the next stage is on July 10 and 11 with the oldest French cyclosportive: La Trilogie de Maurienne! With the cancellation of the event in 2020 and the novelties of 2021, this beautiful edition will undoubtedly remain in people’s minds. Everyone is eager to meet again as soon as possible on the roads of Livradois-Forez in 2022!
