A single, small, and easy-to-install ABS unit, and artificial intelligence capable of adjusting braking assistance based on terrain type. This is ABS G2, the new anti-lock braking system from Blubrake. Designed with the goal of applying the most sophisticated automotive technologies to light electric vehicles, Blubrake has been on the market since 2019. The first and only ABS system for e-bikes fully integrated into the frame and compatible with electric kits and brakes from third-party manufacturers, it has been adopted by leading brands in the market, including Bulls Bikes, Bianchi, and Stromer.

Building on the success of its ABS on the market, the company has continued its technological development based on feedback from manufacturers, cyclists, and testers. Today, Blubrake presents ABS G2, the new version of the system.

Reduced dimensions for better integration

Compared to the first version of the product, Blubrake ABS G2 comes as a single unit. This unit consists of the hydraulic actuator and the electronic control unit, reducing its size by 65% and its weight by 48%.

The end result? Blubrake ABS G2 integrates easily into the frame, thanks to a simplified installation procedure that only requires connecting two electrical connectors.

New external condition detection technology

Blubrake ABS G2 features a significant evolution in braking control logic. Thanks to an optimized algorithm, the system manages the activation of the anti-lock system, detects ground grip conditions, and adapts in real-time to different surfaces, for a consistently natural and smooth braking feel and optimized braking distance based on conditions.

“Continuing to innovate for those who choose to ride e-bikes is the spearhead of our company,” commented Fabio Todeschini, founder and general manager of Blubrake. – We designed Blubrake ABS G2 to meet the strong demand, from both end-users and e-bike manufacturers, to ensure greater safety. In our case, this translates into preventing dangerous conditions and accidents. Today, thanks to the ease of installation and the reduced dimensions of our new system, manufacturers can easily integrate ABS into their models, offering safer and more reliable means that allow everyone to move with greater peace of mind.”

Like the previous version, Blubrake ABS G2 was created to be installed inside the bike. However, it can also be mounted on a fork, to meet all market requirements.

How it works

A system of sensors detects the speed of the front wheel and the frame and transmits this information to a control unit which, thanks to sophisticated algorithms borrowed from the Blubrake team’s experience in the automotive industry, detects potentially dangerous situations that may arise during braking. In these conditions, the actuator intervenes and controls the hydraulic pressure of the front brake, ensuring smooth braking and increasing the stability and maneuverability of the e-bike.

Blubrake ABS G2 is now available for all manufacturers of city, trekking, and mountain e-bikes, both pedelec and speed-pedelec.
