New Pinarello Dogma F: The Art of Balance

Aerodynamics, weight, geometry, tube thicknesses and profiles, carbon choice: all these factors contribute to creating the perfect bike. Finding the right balance is an art, and it’s an art that Pinarello has always strived to master. The new Dogma F is the purest expression to date of this dedication, combining all the brand’s experience, taste, instinct, and skill. This bike, already seen with Richard Carapaz (Ineos Grenadiers) on the roads of the Tour de Suisse, will be used in the Tour de France by the riders of the British team.

The Dogma F is announced as a perfect bike for all types of cyclists and all terrains, because real-world cyclists are not specialized. You need a bike that can climb and descend with the same qualities, attack every corner, and make every watt count to cross the finish line. The Dogma F is designed to do exactly that, whatever the circumstances.

Unlike so many other manufacturers, Pinarello has never distinguished between aero bikes and climbing bikes, because that’s not how people ride in the real world. Whether you’re a recreational cyclist or a professional on a Grand Tour, every time you go out for a ride, you encounter varied terrain, and even the biggest climbs are only reached after crossing plains.

Performance

When designing the DOGMA F, Pinarello prioritized handling, as the brand always has. Very often, bike brands focus on weight, but a scale can be misleading, and on the road, responsiveness and comfort matter more than saving a few grams.

Yes, the complete Dogma F Disc frameset is 11% lighter than the F12, but this is the result of the R&D team’s commitment to innovation and new production methods that make it possible. Particular attention has been paid to the seatpost, headset, fork, and Talon cockpit, saving 265g compared to the Dogma F12, while also being 12% stiffer around the bottom bracket, with improved aerodynamics allowing significant watt savings.

Further proof of this dedication to performance can be seen in the new Onda fork, which the brand designed from scratch twice so that both rim-brake and disc-brake frames could be as fast as possible. Pinarello continues to believe that every cyclist should have the right to choose their braking system. The Dogma F was developed with the same respect and attention to detail, whether it’s the rim-brake or disc-brake model, and this meant designing two different forks for two completely different braking systems.

The result is a Pinarello more aerodynamic than ever. Drag is virtually non-existent until the air has traveled halfway down the frame. And thanks to innovation directly derived from the Bolide, the fork legs of the new Onda fork actually act as sails that promote forward movement in crosswind conditions – an effect that is amplified as the wind intensifies. Every detail of the Dogma F has been refined for improved airflow, from the improved front fork section that cuts through the air, to the new rear triangle that harmoniously channels airflow to the rear, making it 4.8% more aerodynamic in the disc version than the Dogma F12.

At UCI weight limits, even with disc brakes

Total bike weight, launch configurations, without pedals or bottle cages:

DOGMA F DISC size 53 – SRAM RED ETAP AXS – DT SWISS ARC1400 = 6.9 kg (without pedals)
DOGMA F DISC size 53 – SHIMANO DURA-ACE DI2 (9100) – DT SWISS ARC1400 = 6.8 kg (without pedals)
A similar build with rim brakes would easily be below the UCI weight limit.

Unrivaled Comfort

Pinarello will never use t-shirt sizes for bike sizing. That would be an insult to Italian tradition, to the artisans who would measure a cyclist like a tailor would measure someone for a suit. The most advanced bikes are no longer custom-built, but thanks to 11 frame sizes, 16 cockpit sizes, and 2 seatpost setback options, Pinarello offers 352 combinations to allow you to find the perfect position on the saddle of the new Dogma F – compared to the 7 options offered elsewhere.

From the earliest design stages, every detail of the Dogma F was conceived organically, to preserve the specific characteristics of the frame regardless of its size. Pinarello doesn’t just lengthen or shorten tubes; the brand modifies angles and revises entire sections, with one goal in mind: to ensure that everyone experiences the same unique performance qualities of the Dogma F.

Aerospace-grade carbon

When it comes to carbon, there are countless options on the market today. And like so many other things in life, there’s always the classic quality/price ratio. Pinarello is at the top of this scale, and only uses carbon from its Japanese partner Toray, which supplies
their best product for the Dogma F: Torayca T1100 1K fibers with Nanoalloy technology.
This is the same fiber used to produce the fastest racing cars and the most modern and technologically advanced aircraft.

An asymmetric frame

Every Pinarello is designed with the same irrefutable starting point: asymmetry. This is the brand’s fundamental construction philosophy. Why? Because the forces exerted on a bike are asymmetrical. Your legs push both pedals, but the chain acts only on the right side. It is therefore obvious that a frame must be asymmetrical to allow you to pedal in a truly symmetrical way.

Key figures compared to the Dogma F12:

– 265 g (disc brake frameset in size 53)
+ 12% STIFFNESS at the bottom bracket
+ 3.2% MORE AERODYNAMIC (for rim brakes)
+ 4.8% MORE AERODYNAMIC (for disc brakes)
+ 1.3 W SAVED at 40 km/h / 2.6 W SAVED at 50 km/h

Why Dogma F?

You may have noticed, Pinarello has removed the number after the F. Why? The idea of eliminating the numerical code that has classified its best bikes for seven generations came from reading the dictionary definition for the word Dogma.
“Dogma: a principle or set of principles laid down by an authority as incontrovertibly true: the dogmas of faith. (…)”

The Pinarello Dogma F is an icon; it goes beyond a number or superficial classifications. It has been a symbol of excellence since 2000 and continues to be the benchmark for cycling performance. A Dogma is a dream bike, regardless of the model, and so the brand chose to use a simple F, as a link to the past and a symbol of the present, and also to create an identity for the future.
