The SmarTUBE model specifically designed for tubulars was the subject of a long, in-depth development project, requiring several months of engineering to ensure the inner tube was perfectly coupled with the handmade structure of the P ZERO Race Tub SL.
The tubed tire model arriving on the market today incorporates much of the feedback from the World Tour project. The goal is to enhance the performance of Pirelli tubed tires and reach a greater number of users and brand enthusiasts.
A latest-generation material
Pirelli’s new inner tube is made of TPU, thermoplastic polyurethane, a latest-generation material chosen by Pirelli technicians for the excellent performance it provides compared to butyl, which is usually used. The SmarTUBE can reduce weight by up to 70% compared to latex tubes, which are already light. This is the most advantageous way to reduce the weight of a bike: an advantage that translates into less weight on the wheel and therefore, better bike responsiveness, especially uphill and during accelerations.
Extremely compact, the new SmarTUBE breaks all records in terms of space saving, taking up 50% less space in jersey pockets or backpacks. The inner tube can thus be carried anywhere, leaving room for energy bars or multi-tools.
A wide range available
Pirelli offers this accessory in a wide range of diameters and sizes covering P ZERO road tires (P ZERO SmarTUBE) and Scorpion MTB tires (Scorpion SmarTUBE), and also includes a reinforced version for Gravel and long distances, in combination with the tubed tires from the Cinturato line (Cinturato SmarTUBE). This latter version, as light as the lightest butyl inner tubes on the market today, offers twice the puncture protection.
Highly visible thanks to its intense yellow color, the SmarTUBE features a 60 mm black Presta valve for a clean and perfect aesthetic once mounted.
The new SmarTUBE are available at a price of 29.90 euros.
