TRIATHLON – WTS Yokohama 2021: Cassandre Beaugrand 10th, Taylor Knibb wins

With the Tokyo Olympics just three months away, the return of the WTS world circuit was highly anticipated to assess the strengths of the competitors. Unfortunately, this review of forces in Yokohama, Japan, did not turn out in favor of the French women.

Highly anticipated and France’s best chance for a women’s medal in a few weeks, Cassandre Beaugrand only managed 10th place. Emilie Morier finished 17th, and Léonie Périault abandoned.

At the top of the standings, the Americans achieved a one-two finish with Taylor Knibb taking the win ahead of Summer Rappaport. The Dutch Maya Kingma took 3rd place just ahead of a third American, Taylor Spivey. The big favorite, Katie Zaferes (another American!) only crossed the line in 22nd position.
