The Col de la Loze by Brides-les-Bains sportive returns on Sunday, July 18, 2021. Three routes of 30, 53 and 100 kilometers are on offer.

After a successful first edition, the Col de la Loze by Brides-les-Bains sportive returns on July 18, 2021. To meet the expectations of every kind of cycling enthusiast, several formats (100 km, 53 km and 30 km) will be offered, with the added possibility of taking part on electric-assist bikes (e-bikes) on the 53 and 30 km routes. One more reason to come and admire the magnificent landscapes of the Vanoise National Park and the Savoie.

The Col de la Loze, a road unique in the world

Access to the Col de la Loze is forbidden to cars and reserved exclusively for bikes. Starting from Brides-les-Bains, the climb to the col passes through the resort of Méribel to reach, after more than 22 km and 1,715 m of elevation gain, the summit of the Saulire, the high point and junction of the resorts of Méribel and Courchevel

Routes suited to every level and every wish:

To make the most of the roads of the Vanoise Park and so that everyone feels comfortable in their race, three formats are offered to take part in this great celebration of cycling:

100 km

For the most seasoned, choose the big 100 km by Col de la Loze format with 3,716 m of elevation gain. It will take you from the climb of the Frasses to that of Saint Laurent de la Côte before reaching the fearsome finish of the 2020 Tour de France at the summit of the Col de la Loze via Méribel.

53 km

For slightly more cautious riders, try the 50 km by Col de la Loze, which stretches over 53 km with 2,424 m of elevation gain. Ride through the roads of the Vanoise park before hauling yourself up to the summit of the Col de la Loze, again via Méribel. The 53 km will be open to e-bikes this year, just like the 30 km, with in addition a special start reserved for women cyclists who wish to take it.

30 km

For lovers of nice rides in search of magnificent scenery, set off on the 30 km by Col de la Loze with 741 m of elevation gain through the roads of the Vanoise park. Discover the climb of the Frasses before heading toward Bozel and returning to Brides-les-Bains to celebrate the cycling festival and enjoy the festivities offered to all participants.

Women in the spotlight with something new: a dedicated women’s start

In 2021, the 53 km route will offer a start reserved exclusively for women! Cycling is one of the sports with the strongest growth in women’s participation, with more than 17% female participants and more than 10% of FFC license holders. Such a trend deserves to be highlighted and encouraged. To that end, the 50 km route offers an exclusive start reserved for all women who ride bikes and e-bikes!

Justine Bailleul, an ambassador of choice

To embody its commitment to women, Brides-les-Bains has chosen Justine Bailleul, who has made cycling the passion of her life, as the event’s patron! Young and with an already full life, she has turned her commitment into a spark of dreams that she nurtures every day and passes on in her encounters. She has thus decided to get involved to become an AURA ambassador as part of the FFC’s Vivre Vélo au Féminin program, which aims to accelerate the growth of women’s participation. Justine will take the start of the women’s peloton in the 50 km by Brides-les-Bains format to share her passion with all her fellow riders.

Warm-up and Getting the Legs Going

On the eve of the sportive events, begin your preparation, warm up and take on the timed climb to Pralognan-la-Vanoise from Brides-les-Bains, a 21.67 km route with 910 m of elevation gain. Reduced rate for participants in the Col de la Loze by Brides-les-Bains event.

Brides-les-Bains, pilot city for the hydrogen e-bike

Two of the 3 routes (50 km and 30 km) of the Col de la Loze by Brides-les-Bains are open to e-bikes! The electric-assist bike offers interesting solutions for those who want a gentle sporting activity while discovering a new, clean mode of transport.

2021 special feature!

All spa guests present during the event will be able to start the 30 km e-bike ride for free!

The spa resort of Brides-les-Bains has understood this well and is developing a fleet of e-bikes to effectively combat a sedentary lifestyle and make it easier for its spa guests to return to sport. This year, the leader in weight-loss in France will complement its spa treatments with an additional physical activity, the e-bike! Always with everyone’s health at heart, the town has decided to invest heavily in electric-assist bikes with the support of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region. It is effective support for visitors in their quest for well-being and health.
