TRIATHLON – Challenge Daytona PTO 2020 Men: Victory for Gustav Iden, Vincent Luis 8th

The men’s race at the 2020 Challenge Daytona PTO saw many twists and turns. Constant changes at the front of the bike leg, spectacular comebacks, a penalty for Vincent Luis, and Alistair Brownlee’s withdrawal while leading on the run – the scenario unfolded dramatically on the Florida International Speedway. In the end, thanks to a formidable run, Norway’s Gustav Iden won in 3h05’06, ahead of American Matthew Hanson (3h05’57) and Britain’s George Goodwin (3h06’09). The defending champion, Canadian Lionel Sanders, finished just off the podium in 4th place with a time of 3h06’16. Forced to serve a two-minute penalty after the bike leg, France’s Vincent Luis took 8th place in 3h07’21, 2’15 behind the winner. Without this, the two-time ITU world champion would have been in contention for the win. What a shame.
