Team Sunweb welcomes a new main sponsor and becomes Team DSM for 2021

On the occasion of the presentation of its partners for the upcoming season, Team Sunweb announced the arrival of a new main partner for 2021 with Royal DSM. Romain Bardet’s future team will change its name for 2021 and become Team DSM.

Team Sunweb today announced a major strategic partnership with Royal DSM (a firm specializing in the science behind global health, nutrition, and sustainable living). After winning several stages of the Tour de France and dominating the Giro d’Italia podium in 2020, one of professional road cycling’s highest-ranked and most exciting young teams will be known as Team DSM from January 1, 2021.

DSM’s strategic objective in partnering with one of the UCI WorldTour’s leading global cycling teams is to increase public engagement in the importance of people’s and the planet’s health, in line with the company’s purpose. Building on an existing innovation partnership with DSM that has developed over the last half-decade, Team DSM will continue to “keep challenging” by taking its technology, equipment, and nutrition to a whole new level. DSM will support the Men’s, Women’s, and Development programs equally to become the best they can be – both on and off the bike.

Team DSM is also proud to announce that from 2021, it will produce its own custom race apparel, developed in cooperation with DSM and through their technology partner Bioracer. With the goal of producing the world’s best performance apparel in mind, Team DSM is moving away from a traditional commercial partnership to produce a specially designed, performance-driven product that meets the standards set by professional cyclists for the most demanding circumstances.

Protective fabrics will be gradually integrated into several apparel options, ensuring that each fabric matches the specific requirements of each item. The apparel uses high-performance materials and the latest technologies, including DSM’s Dyneema® protective fabrics and adapted Arnitel® materials.

Bioracer brings to the partnership its wealth of technical knowledge in the production and development of high-performance apparel, ensuring that the team’s kit is produced to the highest standards. By using their knowledge in BioEfficiency, BioComfort, and BioRegulation, they will ensure the cutting-edge production of Team DSM’s specially designed performance apparel.
