The French company Mavic presents its new wheel range for the 2021 season, simplifying product naming and reviewing its prices.
After a difficult 2020 for the Annecy-based company, Mavic is focusing on a road wheel range that is simpler for consumers to understand and with prices adjusted to be as fair as possible. Aluminum rims are still produced in France in the Ain region, and carbon wheels are entirely designed, tested, and developed in Annecy. The brand also includes a lifetime warranty for carbon wheels starting with this 21 range, as well as a Crash Replacement program. Note that all wheels in the range are entirely hand-built.

Simplified names
At Mavic, wheels are distinguished by aluminum rims (now called Ksyrium for the entire range) and carbon rims (now called Cosmic for the entire range), available for disc brakes or rim brakes.
There are then four range levels: S / SL / SLR / Ultimate. But also several rim depths for carbon wheels: 32 / 40 / 45 / 65.
Some models from previous years remain in the range for track cycling (Io, Comete, Elipse Pro Carbon, and Elipse), the Comete Road disc wheel for road cycling, the Ksyrium Pro, as well as the entry-level aluminum wheels Cosmic Elite and Aksium.
Ksyrium Range
The Ksyrium range starts with the Ksyrium S for rim brakes and disc brakes (1570/1670 g) at €400. Then there are the Ksyrium SL for rim brakes and disc brakes (1480/1575 g) at €650, with the same Instant Drive 360 hubs and the same Fore rim drilling principle, but with ISM 4D machining and elliptical spokes instead of flat spokes.

Cosmic Range
The Cosmic range starts with the Cosmic SL, available in 32 and 65 mm rim depth for disc brakes (1500 and 1750 g), and 40 or 45 mm (rim brakes at 1600 g or disc at 1575 g), at a price of €1200. Then there are the Cosmic SLR available in 32 and 65 mm rim depth for disc brakes (1390 and 1570 g), and 40 or 45 mm (rim brakes at 1370 g or disc at 1475 g), at a price of €1850, with the same Instant Drive 360 hubs, but rims that integrate Fore Carbon technology and elliptical spokes instead of flat spokes.

The Cosmic 32s have an internal rim width of 21 mm, compared to 19 mm for the rest of the range.

Finally, at the top of the range, the Cosmic Ultimate Tubular Disc with their 40 mm rim and elliptical carbon spokes are still as desirable with their weight of 1225 g and their price of €3000.
Allroad Range
Mavic also continues its development program for wheels intended for Gravel riding, with the Allroad S and SL (also available in 650b), which are added to the existing Allroad Pro Carbon SL. The Allroad S are priced at €400 for a weight of 1765 g, with a 22 mm internal width aluminum rim, Instant Drive 360 hubs, and Fore drilling. The Allroad SL, on the other hand, go for €650 for a weight of 1590 g in 700c, with additional elliptical spokes and ISM 4D rim machining.
