These two events join the existing Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia and the 5150 Triathlon Series event in Warsaw, for a total of four races in 2021. IRONMAN Gdynia and IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia will both be held on August 8, 2021. IRONMAN 70.3 Warsaw and 5150 Triathlon Series Warsaw will take place on June 6, 2021.

“Gdynia was the natural choice to host a full-distance IRONMAN event in Poland. There is simply no better place,” said Race Director Michał Drelich. “Some of the world’s best triathletes such as Daniela Ryf, Mirinda Carfrae, Jan Frodeno, and Patrick Lange have raced here. More importantly, age-group athletes from all over the world have learned to appreciate the atmosphere that the city and community of Gdynia offer them. With an IRONMAN and an IRONMAN 70.3 race on the same weekend, we look forward to celebrating this triathlon festival.“

Participants in the first edition of IRONMAN Gdynia will start their day with a 3.8 km (2.4 miles) swim in the generally calm waters of Gdansk Bay, followed by a challenging 180 km (112 miles) bike course that takes athletes through the green forests, summer fields, and hills of Kashubia before returning to Gdynia. The 42.2 km (26 miles) run course uses the wide streets of the city center and seaside boulevards before finishing directly on the sandy beach in the most popular part of the city.

New IRONMAN 70.3 Warsaw

Warsaw will also make IRONMAN history in Poland by adding a new IRONMAN 70.3 to the calendar on June 6, 2021. It is the third European capital to host an IRONMAN event in 2021, after Copenhagen (Denmark) and Tallinn (Estonia). IRONMAN 70.3 Warsaw and 5150 Triathlon Series Warsaw will start from Lake Zegrzynski, a popular leisure destination in the suburbs of Warsaw.

The flat and fast bike course will take athletes to transition zone 2 in the heart of the city center, featuring some of the Polish capital’s most famous landmarks, including the Warsaw Citadel, Old Town, Royal Castle, and National Stadium. The run course in the heart of the city will allow participants to see the Old Town and other tourist attractions such as the Grand Theatre, National Opera, Pilsudskiego Square, Krakowskie Przedmieście, Karowa Street, and Arkady Kubickiego. The finish line will be located in the Multimedia Fountain Park.

“The 5150 Triathlon Series in Warsaw has already taken place four times and attracted nearly six thousand athletes. The residents and community of Warsaw have proven that sport is in their DNA. In recent years, our city has seen many sporting events in which a large number of Warsaw residents participated. For us, adding IRONMAN 70.3 Warsaw was only a matter of time. I am happy that our residents will have a new opportunity to challenge themselves,” said Renata Kaznowska, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw.

  • Individual registrations for IRONMAN Gdynia, Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia, IRONMAN 70.3 Warsaw, and 5150 Triathlon Series Warsaw will open on December 2. IRONMAN Gdynia 2021 will offer 30 qualifying slots for the IRONMAN World Championship Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
  • IRONMAN 70.3 Warsaw will offer 40 qualifying slots for the Intermountain Healthcare IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship 2021 presented by Utah Sports Commission on September 17 and 18, 2021, in Saint-George, Utah – USA.
