Wilier Triestina unveils its new Wilier Filante SLR bike. Inspired by the high-end Cento10Pro and 0 SLR, the new Filante SLR aims to be light, stiff, and aerodynamic. The announced frame weighs 870g, and the complete bike, at the top of a range offered in twelve build configurations, weighs 6.8kg, with prices ranging from €7,200 to €12,400.

Wilier Triestina has unveiled the new Wilier Filante SLR, which the brand presents as the natural evolution of its high-end aerodynamic model used by professionals, the Cento10Pro. The new Filante SLR is a more aerodynamic, extremely lightweight bike, aiming to further improve the stiffness-to-weight ratio. It’s worth noting that the materials used are the same as those of the airy Wilier 0 SLR.

The result of Wilier’s work is a high-end, aerodynamic frame, designed to complement the pure climbing qualities of the Zero SLR, a model also used by the professional teams Astana and Total Direct Energie, with whom the Italian firm is a partner.

After months of hard work to define the shapes and structure, inspired by the Cento10Pro, Wilier offers a model “where every detail has been studied to make it faster and lighter.” The final result is a light, aerodynamic, and stiff bike, one of the most advanced developed by the brand.

AERODYNAMICS
The Wilier Filante SLR was designed to offer high-level aerodynamic performance. The study was based on data measured in a wind tunnel (where a very consistent wind allows for homogeneous empirical results), but also taking into account real-world conditions. In this way, Wilier evaluates typical wind tunnel data (yaw angles from -20 to +20 degrees) and also considers environmental turbulences that interfere with the bike for various reasons.

Wilier has therefore redesigned the profiles, starting from the NACA/KAMM shape, but no longer with sharp truncated edges at the rear. The angles are softened, ensuring better performance even when the airflow is disturbed.

The distance between the fork legs has been increased by 7 mm (i.e., 13.6% wider than on the Cento10PRO). This means the fork legs are further away from the wheel, resulting in reduced turbulence. Aerodynamics are thus significantly improved.

VERY LIGHT AND RESPONSIVE
The new aerodynamically optimized profiles have allowed Wilier to save even more weight in the frame construction. The shape without sharp edges requires less material and less resin in the corners. The interior is therefore more homogeneous and allows the frame weight to be limited to 870 grams. The complete bike weighs 6.8 KG with a top-of-the-range build.

The carbon used to build the Filante monocoque is the same as that of the Wilier 0 SLR. Thanks to the use of different types of carbon and a liquid crystal polymer, the specific positioning of the fibers, and the construction technology, Wilier has achieved a level of lightness and stiffness presented as “absolutely exceptional.”

The weight saving, combined with high torsional stiffness, has increased the stiffness-to-weight ratio by 12.5%. This increase is noticeable on very technical courses (many turns, descents, etc.) as well as on very fast courses.

240 FITTINGS AVAILABLE
With the new completely round steerer tube, Wilier can mount up to 35mm of spacers under the handlebar. By combining frame size, handlebar size, and number of spacers, the brand achieves 240 different fittings, without any overlapping combinations. This number can even be doubled if we consider the 2 available seatposts (15mm setback and 0mm setback).

INTEGRATED HANDLEBAR AND CABLES
In addition to its limited weight (350 grams for size 101×42), the new integrated Filante Bar monocoque carbon handlebar routes the brake and control cables internally through the frame. Its design is essential, with sinuous and rounded lines to ensure perfect ergonomics.

EASY-FIT SPACERS
The spacers placed between the frame’s headset and the handlebar are made of a high-stiffness composite material, with a special cavity for cable routing. Their shape consists of two parts to allow quick assembly and disassembly, without interfering with the cables passing inside the frame and handlebar.

BALANCED DESIGN
The Wilier Filante SLR is available in six sizes. The tube sections in the different sizes are designed so that stiffness, ride quality, and comfort are identical across every frame size manufactured.

SPEED RELEASE THRU-AXLES
This solution significantly reduces the time it takes to remove and reinstall the wheel. Wilier claims that in competition, a wheel change saves an average of 7 seconds compared to a traditional thru-axle.

The new Wilier Filante SLR is offered in twelve build configurations, ranging from €7,200 for the Shimano Ultegra Di2 and Shimano RS 170 wheels version, to €12,400 for the top-of-the-range version equipped with Campagnolo Super Record EPS and Campa Bora WTO 33 Disc wheels. Three colors are available, and a frameset version including the Filante cockpit and seatpost is offered at €5,000.
