Review: Afuludine Winsleek Cleaning Products

During this new lockdown, why not give your bike a little makeover? The Winsleek product range developed by the French company Afuludine proves to be very interesting in this regard, as we found out after a four-month test.

Afuludine is headquartered in Dole, France, and specializes in the manufacture of eco-responsible lubricants for industry, crafts, and now sports, offering effective, ecological products that are safe for the environment and the user. They have been developed over 10 years in collaboration with the Groupama – FDJ team and the French Cycling Federation. After four months of testing, we review all the very comprehensive bike products.

Degreasers

To start, there are three degreasers:

• WIN’DEGREASS`
• WIN’BIODEGREASS
• WIN’BREAKDEGREASS

The first degreaser, WIN’DEGREASS, deeply removes accumulated grease and grime. It’s quite powerful. A few sprays on the cassette and chain, then scrub after letting it sit, and it really does a good job.

The second, a biological and therefore ecological model, cannot remove grease that has accumulated for a long time (in case you’re not very careful). This is the one we used the most, washing the bike once or twice a week. If the grease is stubborn, you still need to scrub well with a brush.

The third, in spray form, is dedicated to disc brakes, and ensures perfectly dry rotors, free of any thin layer of grease or other residue. It’s always useful to have one in your toolbox, as it allows you to quickly degrease the rotors if oil splashes a bit during lubrication, or any other mishap that might contaminate them. We can also apply it to the calipers and pistons to keep everything clean. It’s a very practical product with its adjustable nozzle.

The washing product

After degreasing the bike, we can move on to the washing step, and for this, WIN’CLEAN is to be applied to the entire bike. Still in spray form like the degreasers, it helps eliminate dust and mud. This is what we observed during tests on the gravel bike. On the road, it’s useful after wet rides on dirty roads. WIN’CLEAN quickly dissolves particles (dirt, tar, etc.). We recommend letting it act for three to five minutes and then scrubbing with a sponge and a brush depending on the areas; it’s much simpler this way. The result is very satisfying.

The lubricant

Once the bike is washed and perfectly dry, it’s time to lubricate. At Winsleek, a small peculiarity compared to all competitors, there is a primary layer that will increase the duration of lubrication and reduce the necessary quantity: this is WIN’PRIM. A small drop on each link, then you have to let it dry again before the lubrication itself. This primary layer is really effective, as we have seen. Comparing the method with other lubricants we have tested, it is clear that these stay on longer. You reapply it less often than usual. This also means less chain wear as a result.

Then apply WIN’LUB, the lubricant that is applied drop by drop to the chain. A relatively classic-looking lubricant. It’s not a wax, it’s a vegetable oil, so the chain will blacken and you’ll need to use the WIN’BIODEGREASS degreasers.

The finish

Finally, our favorite is WIN’FINISH, which makes the bike shine and thus facilitates subsequent cleaning since dirt adheres less. With a microfiber cloth, the result is truly excellent. In addition, this product gives off a pleasant fresh scent, just like all Winsleek products.

In summary, these are truly healthy and planet-friendly products that prove to be highly effective and, moreover, 100% French. A great discovery!
