New Fulcrum WIND 75 DB Wheels

Fulcrum introduces the latest model in its WIND range, with the WIND 75 DB wheels. A high-profile, ultra-aerodynamic carbon rim, suitable for solo timed efforts in both triathlon and road cycling.

The WIND range, launched a year ago, culminates with the 75 DB model, a deep-profile wheel that best expresses the full potential of Fulcrum engineers’ research and development in aerodynamics.

The ultra-aerodynamic profile makes this wheel ideal for time trials, triathlon, and, in general, for all situations where aerodynamics matter and high speeds are maintained.

The design challenge for Fulcrum was to achieve high air penetration and speed values without compromising stability and handling, given the rim depth. This result was obtained through meticulous wind tunnel studies that yielded the new unidirectional carbon rim profile, whose internal and external dimensions follow the precepts of new trends: 27 mm width and 19 mm internal width.

The rim is 2-WAY FIT tm, meaning it is tubeless-ready from the start. It therefore requires no sealing tape, simplifying and lightening the pairing with tires thanks to the rim’s treatment with Mo-Mag TM technology. The undrilled rim is also stiffer and more resistant.

The spokes are double-butted stainless steel, rounded with straight heads (the most advantageous choice aerodynamically), and the nipples are aluminum.

Regarding the internal mechanics, sealed cartridge bearings inside the aluminum hubs have been chosen for both front and rear. However, a lot of work has been done on the rear hub to improve the freehub body’s engagement angle, bringing the angle to 10° compared to the traditional 12° thanks to the new 36-tooth ratchet hub. These small adjustments increase the ability to transfer power to the ground.

Two extremely important features for enthusiasts are the extremely attractive price/performance ratio, which makes the fast wheel more accessible compared to the SPEED range, and the option to purchase only the rear wheel. This way, a less demanding profile model (WIND 55, for example) can be mounted on the front to improve handling and maneuverability on winding roads, in strong crosswinds, or simply for less experienced cyclists or triathletes.

WIND 75 is the ideal choice for those seeking maximum speed, the gateway to the Fulcrum carbon range, a valuable ally when seconds count, a beautiful design exercise to make your bike unique, and the true meaning of #FULCRUMFAST.

The wheels are available with the traditional HG11 and XDR freehub bodies, while the new Campagnolo N3W is optional.
