The revamped Scott Foil

The new version of the Scott Foil is based on the same proven frame structure as the previous version, one of the lightest aerodynamic bikes on the market. To minimize air resistance and make it an exceptional bike in every way, it has been equipped with a completely redesigned cockpit (fork, headset, and handlebars), which allows internal cable routing for electronic and mechanical drivetrains.

The cornerstone of the Scott Foil’s aerodynamic construction is its patented design – F01 technology. It has been implemented on bikes that have won stages in all major races, such as Paris-Roubaix and many others. Thanks to the all-new fork design and integrated cable routing, its air resistance has been further reduced.

Integration

The new version of the Foil features full integration of mechanical and electronic drivetrain cables. Engineers achieved this without compromising shifting or braking quality and without affecting headset stiffness. In addition, mechanics will be surprised by how easy it is to change cables and maintain the bike.

New fork

The fork has been completely redesigned to allow full cable integration and ensure perfect aerodynamics, further reducing air resistance. The new fork is designed with tire clearance for tires up to 30C.

Power transfer

The PF86 bottom bracket provides a wider connection surface for the down tube and tapered seat tube to the crankset. Scott’s patented carbon manufacturing process and unique carbon layers ensure an extremely stiff bottom bracket shell.

Comfort preserved

The lowered and slimmed chainstays improve the Foil’s ride compliance, even on rough roads. The effectiveness of this concept was proven by Mat Hayman’s victory at Paris-Roubaix. This targeted approach to improving the Foil’s comfort has led to a significant increase in vertical compliance.

Frame dropouts

This frame offers a choice between two derailleur hanger versions: one for traditional derailleurs, and the other for direct-mount derailleurs. Direct mount is standard for Shimano, and is now available for Dura-Ace and Ultegra groupsets. The direct-mount hanger provides more space to remove the wheel, making wheel changes easier and faster.

Aside from the direct-mount hanger and in cooperation with Scott’s road bike team, rear dropouts have been designed to allow the rear wheel to be easily guided into the dropout slots. The hub first makes contact with the inclined (front) part of the slot, and by lifting the wheel, it takes its final position.

Head tube

The Foil’s head tube exhibits excellent aerodynamic properties, especially at low angles of incidence. The leading edge shape has been optimized with additional carbon layers that make it as aerodynamic as possible. Furthermore, its aerodynamic profile ensures a perfect transition between the frame and fork for maximum performance.

Seatpost

The Foil features a perfectly integrated seatpost and a clean transition between the seat tube and seatpost, aiming to maximize aerodynamic efficiency while ensuring its function. The patented seatpost follows the aerodynamic tube shapes of the frame and is available with 5 or 20 mm setback.

Cockpit

Clean and streamlined, the new Syncros cockpit combo integrates with Scott’s new ICC cabling system, allowing all cables to pass inside the handlebars, headset, and frame. By collaborating with Gebiomized, the brand was able to develop the ultimate ergonomic shape for cyclists. The V-Shape format also reduced weight and optimized stiffness while improving cable routing, simplifying mechanics’ lives. And it’s also possible to improve aerodynamics by placing the new integrated bike computer mount system in the empty space.

A solid track record

Since its launch in 2010, a multitude of races have been won on the Foil. To date (August 2020), the Foil has accumulated 33 Grand Tour stage victories, four Monuments, and an Elite UCI World Championship title. The Foil was the first to cross the finish line in 182 races at the highest level. The Foil was simply born to win! Whether for competition, for tackling virtual segments, or for challenging your riding companions in an imaginary final sprint, the Foil is the ultimate machine for all those for whom only victory is beautiful.

The bike will be used by some of the Mitchelton – Scott team riders in the 2020 Tour de France.
