Pirelli P Zero Race TLR & TLR SL, tubeless road tires, World Tour Ready

Pirelli launches the P ZERO Race TLR and P ZERO Race TLR SL, road tubeless tires designed for professional and high-level cycling: the flagship of Pirelli’s range of tires for racing bikes.

Developed in collaboration with two World Tour teams, the Mitchelton-SCOTT team of reigning road world champion Annemiek van Vleuten and the Trek-Segafredo team of reigning world champion Mads Pedersen and Vincenzo Nibali, the new P ZERO Race can, without a doubt, be called World Tour Ready. They are expected to make their official debut in UCI’s highest division races in 2020.

The P Zero Race TLR is an all-rounder, ideal for both competition and training, with a reinforced TLR casing featuring Pirelli’s TechWALL+ technology. The P ZERO Race TLR SL is the lightest and highest-performing tire ever made by Pirelli in its bicycle tire range.

Pirelli’s new tubeless-ready tires were made with SmartEVO, an innovative compound born from the evolution of the original SmartNET.

The SmartEvo Compound

The new SmartEvo compound uses a blend of 3 different polymers, each offering specific performance while ensuring a perfect balance of opposing characteristics: the endless goal for rubber technicians. To complete this project, Pirelli used its exceptional experience developed over more than 100 years of motorsports, all while implementing its vast cycling expertise for performance always at the highest level. The brand’s deep knowledge and chemical expertise allowed Pirelli engineers to advancedly use a ternary polymer blend to ensure “smart” behavior as the basis of the exceptional properties of the SmartEvo compound, allowing for better grip on dry and wet surfaces, all while improving rolling resistance. A high-performance blend suitable for all road disciplines, from local races to the World Tour, to epic adventures where climate and road surfaces demand tires that perform in all circumstances.

P Zero Race TLR

P Zero Race TLR SL

The P Zero Race TLR SL is designed to offer the key advantages of tubeless technology, grip, rolling, and handling in a race tire with an emphasis on speed and control beyond what the brand has previously produced (including TT and lightweight tubulars). After three years of development with the fastest racers at the World Tour level, Pirelli has designed the P Zero Race TLR SL to be lighter than ever, with slightly less mileage resistance and wet road grip than the TLR.
