Cycling shoes are typically the first piece of kit that identifies cyclists from those who simply ride a bike, making the choice of the first pair of shoes an important step in unleashing one’s cycling potential. This is why Shimano is introducing entry-level road and mountain biking shoes with features and characteristics inherited from high-end models.
Road Shoes
With their design, the first thing that stands out is the resemblance of the RC300 and RC100 shoes to the look and features of the Shimano S-Phyre shoes worn by many professionals on the World Tour.
Of course, emulating a pro’s look is one thing, but emulating performance is another. To help in this regard, the RC3 features:
- a Boa L6 dial centered on the shoe to allow the rider to find the ideal fit even while riding
- a wrap-around upper, a one-piece midsole, and a fiberglass-reinforced nylon sole for comfort
- a thin midsole offers superior stability and better control when speed increases
All these features come from Shimano’s high-end models, which means the RC3 has serious advantages to offer, such as comfort on long rides and optimal power transfer when you want to push the pedals.

For its part, the RC1 focuses on comfort above all with:
- a triple Velcro closure to adjust to the foot’s shape
- breathable mesh to keep your feet in place without pressure points
- an outsole similar to the RC3 model, which provides power transfer during pedaling and comfort for walking with a stiffness of 6/12.
Thus, the RC1 offers an excellent mix of everyday usability, comfort, and good value for money.

Cross-Country Shoes
The XC models feature the same DNA as the high-performance S-PHYRE MTB shoes, with a sleek look and optimal power transfer.
The XC300 model features:
- a Boa L6 dial for micro-adjustment even while riding
- a SHIMANO Dynalast last shape to reduce fatigue on long distances
- a thinner midsole to stabilize the foot and improve power transfer
- toe and heel protection, durable lugs so the XC3 can handle dirt, mud, and anything else thrown its way.

Just like the RC1, the XC1 is recognizable by its comfort and ease of use with:
- three Velcro straps to reduce pressure points while distributing the closure
- a perforated synthetic leather upper for better ventilation and more comfort
- a lightweight nylon sole, reinforced with fiberglass, with a rubber outsole to promote stable pedaling, grip when putting your foot down, and assured power transfer.
