The new Campagnolo Shamal Carbon Disc Brake endurance wheels

Campagnolo introduces a new pair of Shamal Carbon Disc Brake wheels. One of Campagnolo’s legendary wheels returns in a carbon version, weighing 1,585 g per pair, adapted for disc braking and tubed and Tubeless tires up to 30mm and more, for worry-free riding from asphalt to rougher roads, its new preferred terrain.

The new Campagnolo Shamal Carbon DB wheels feature a 35mm rim depth for the front, 40mm for the rear.

Campagnolo has developed a new version of its legendary Shamal wheel, launched in the early 90s. For the Vincenza firm, this new Shamal is “the first Campagnolo wheel designed for endurance, to go off traditional routes and challenge the legacy carried by the Shamal name.”

Summer will be very hot for the most demanding and enduring cyclists who choose the new Campagnolo wheels… as hot as the wind they are named after. Shamal has been synonymous with innovation since 1992, the year when the concept of a high-profile aluminum rim was introduced to the racing world with this wheel. For this new version, the approach has been identical with the objective of improving cyclist performance during hours in the saddle on long rides, while offering comfort and efficiency in all conditions.

21mm internal width for a wheel suitable for tubed and Tubeless tires up to 30mm and more.

This is the first Campagnolo wheel developed for endurance with a rim designed to accommodate wider tires and offer the cyclist maximum comfort in races but especially during long rides. The 21mm internal width (hook to hook) of the rim is compatible according to ETRTO standards with tire sizes of 25, 28, 30 mm or more. The rim gives this wheel a lot of versatility, on the road of course, but also and especially off paved routes. Gravel is its preferred terrain.

Campagnolo intends its new Shamal Carbon DB wheel for use on both paved sections and rougher roads.

Thanks to 2-Way Fit technology, Campagnolo ensures perfect compatibility with tubed tires or tubeless tires. The undrilled rim, made using the patented MoMag system, reduces its weight, increases its stiffness, and allows the mounting of tubeless tires without an inner tube and without rim tape. Wheel maintenance and cleaning when changing tires has never been easier.

The new Shamal Carbon DB relies on Campagnolo’s 2-Way Fit technology to adapt to both tubed and Tubeless tires.

The other major novelty concerns the profile of the High Modulus unidirectional carbon rim. Differentiated front/rear profile: 40 mm at the rear for efficiency, responsiveness, and power transfer, 35 mm at the front for handling and optimal control in all conditions. The rim is unpainted, which proves the quality of the machining and materials used.

Available as options: USB ceramic or top-of-the-range CULT ceramic bearings.

The wheel is equipped with new aluminum hubs with a cup-and-cone bearing system, very light and extremely efficient. Reliable, efficient, and very smooth, the bearings are easily adjustable to ensure extreme operating precision and lasting performance. A kit to upgrade the bearings is also available: USB ceramic bearings and top-of-the-range CULT ceramic bearings options.

The new Shamal Carbon DB can count on Campagnolo’s patented G3 spoke pattern.

The high reliability of the wheel, a fundamental brand value, is ensured by its construction and G3 spoke pattern. A Campagnolo wheel identity, the patented G3 spoke pattern guarantees balanced and safe braking in all conditions. The Shamal Carbon Disc Brake wheel is entirely hand-assembled by a specialized Campagnolo assembler and individually tested using electronically controlled instruments. The rigor of this quality procedure guarantees maximum reliability for the wheel.

The new Shamal Carbon Disc Brake wheel presents itself as “a reference, a symbol, and a breath of renewal like the warm wind it is named after.” It is available now in versions with Dark label, Campagnolo N3W™, Shimano HG™, Sram XDR™ freehub bodies, at a price of €1,299 (with Campagnolo N3W™ freehub body).
