Nature sports are back after several months of lockdown due to the COVID-19 epidemic. In accordance with the recent declarations by the Minister of Sports and with the agreement of the Gironde prefecture, the XTERRA Nouvelle-Aquitaine will indeed take place on August 29 and 30. Mass starts are, in principle, authorized. The organizer, Time 2 Sports, remains vigilant and will take all necessary precautions and measures for the safety of the racers, spectators, and all persons involved in the organization of this major premiere of the XTERRA Planet circuit in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
Initially planned for Espiet, near Saint-Emilion, the event is moving a little further west in Gironde to a larger space, Domaine de la Cadie (40 hectares). The official ambassador, Arthur Serrières (XTERRA Vice World Champion 2019, European Champion the same year), as well as French athletes Arthur Forissier (Cross Triathlon World Champion in 2019), Maxime Chané (Junior Cross Triathlon World Champion 2019), and Loanne Duvoisin (U23 Cross Tri World Champion 2019), have confirmed their presence. Spanish athlete Rubén Ruzafa, multiple world champion in the discipline, will also be there. More than 300 anonymous participants will join them on the starting line of the full XTERRA, and 2,000 participants are expected. The races are accessible to everyone, starting from 12 years old. And registrations are open again.
What is the XTERRA circuit?
It is an international cross triathlon circuit created in 1996. It includes about a hundred races, spread across 5 continents and 16 different countries. Some of these races are qualifiers for the World Championships, which take place every year in Maui, Hawaii, in October. With the exception of these World Championships, all competitions are open to both professional athletes and amateurs, as well as children with dedicated races. XTERRA races are nature events that combine competition and a family atmosphere.
What is CROSS TRIATHLON?
Triathlon, but in a nature version! In cross triathlon, you swim in open water, then ride your mountain bike on dirt roads, through forests, or in the mountains, and you finish your triple effort with trail running. The distances remain the same as those of classic triathlons (XS, S, M, L, XL). Cross triathlon is a discipline in its own right, affiliated with the French Triathlon Federation.
Registrations remain open: xterra-nouvelle-aquitaine.com
