TRIATHLON – Cancellation of the 2020 La Baule FFTRI GP

In an uncertain sporting environment, considerably impacted by the health measures to be implemented, the organization of the Audencia – La Baule Triathlon has decided to cancel its 33rd edition, which notably hosted a stage of the 2020 Triathlon Grand Prix.

The cancellation of this 2020 edition comes after a meeting of the Audencia – La Baule Triathlon organizing committee. It ruled, in coordination with the competent health and governmental authorities, on various elements, including the continuous assessment of the specific risks of organizing an event of this magnitude. The health and safety of all members of the sports community (participants, spectators, volunteers, etc.) motivated this decision.

This news obviously modifies the 2020 Triathlon Grand Prix circuit which, last June, was already deprived of two of its five stages. After the consecutive cancellation of the Dunkirk and Muret stages, initially scheduled for June and July, then the postponement of the Châteauroux stage and finally, the cancellation of the La Baule event, the circuit now has only 2 remaining stages of the initial circuit.

In this particular context and in order to offer an attractive circuit to the triathlon clubs engaged in Division 1, the French Triathlon Federation has decided to choose the French Clubs Cup scheduled in Les Herbiers (85) as the venue for the 3rd stage of the Triathlon Grand Prix. Thus, the new calendar of the 2020 Triathlon Grand Prix is as follows:

– the first stage will be held in Châteauroux on Saturday, August 22;
– the second stage in Quiberon on Saturday, September 05;
– the third and final stage in Les Herbiers, on Saturday, October 03.
