Who will forget this period that will forever mark the history of humanity? Historic measures never before taken in peacetime. Measures that aim to respond to an unprecedented situation of sanitary warfare… Welcome to the world of strict lockdown! A temporary life confined in a bubble. Our bubble! But what kind of bubble? A bubble of boredom and worries or a bubble of happiness?

Since this historic March 16, 2020, the watchword is clear: “stay home!” At first, many, like children attached to their toy, tried to circumvent the instructions and transgress the rules. Some rode at night. Others took the car to go running in the forest. Less clever ones even synchronized their outing on Strava. We discovered all sorts of deviant and selfish behaviors. As if people’s true character had been revealed. But caught by the patrol or moral lessons, the majority eventually fell into line and respected the rules.
Inventiveness and creativity for solutions
It’s hard to stay in shape in an apartment. Yet, some have shown brilliant creativity to stay active. Solutions often very funny and that help to lift spirits a little. On social networks, the athletes who are behind them do not hesitate to film themselves and share their videos. This shows that human beings are indeed the best species at adapting. But this period is still long. In the best case, we will have been confined for 56 days at the end of this period. We cannot imagine that it will be without impact. What really happened psychologically?

May 11 or the end of the journey
What if this lockdown had been a foretaste of paradise? “What? Lockdown: paradise?” How could this idealistic vision of the situation be justified? A question of philosophy perhaps, like this game of perception with the glass half full… But yet, many already dread the end. Because lockdown is also for some a crazy and exhausting pace put on hold, a refocusing on essential values and especially on family, a questioning of values. For others, those who cannot disconnect, it’s like a journey to the end of boredom or sometimes also a terrible feeling of uselessness… Pedaling in a vacuum or jumping rope without a jump rope to pass the time: that’s fine for 5 minutes. It must be admitted, many have experienced this period as a terrible episode. And for them, this announcement of deconfinement on May 11 is seen as the light at the end of the tunnel.

A bubble of happiness that will have to be left
As surprising as it may seem, lockdown is for some of you a real bubble of happiness. A joyful microcosm that will – unfortunately – have to be left. Yes! While a majority demonizes lockdown, some will also have used the period to reposition their scale of values. They will have realized that many things are ultimately futile and non-essential. That to live happily, one must travel light. For them, this period should never be forgotten, as it presented itself as a wonderful opportunity to learn what happiness truly means.
Whether you are a triathlete, cyclist, or runner, when the time comes to resume and the pace is even crazier than it has ever been, I know you will remember that happiness is impossible to find anywhere but within.
