The 2020 international paratriathlon season resumed today in Devonport, Tasmania, Australia. This is an important season as it kicks off the race towards the Tokyo Olympic event, which will take place in early August.
Winner here in 2019, Arnaud Grandjean (PTVI, guided by Toumy Degham) wanted to repeat his performance, especially with the experience gained throughout last season. On the start list, he had to watch out for Australian Jonathan Goerlach, but the local athlete was stronger than the Frenchman, making the difference on the bike and then on the run.
In the end, Jonathan Goerlach took the top step of the podium in 1h06’36, ahead of Serbian Lazar Filipovic in 1h06’56. Arnaud Grandjean, guided by Toumy Degham, was 3rd in 1h07’30.
The two men will compete again in just five days at the PWC in Abu Dhabi.
