The big heart of French racers –

Mathys Garon is a junior racer for VC Montigny in Yvelines, who was the victim of a serious road accident during a bike training ride in mid-August.

While the prognosis was still reserved at the end of August, the social media peloton mobilized to support this racer, an absolute fan of the AG2R – La Mondiale team and Romain Bardet in particular, and for whom 2019 was his first year of competition.

Notified and touched by Mathys’s fate, Romain Bardet took the time to send him a signed polka-dot jersey from the Tour de France, not forgetting a personal note for the parents, who were still taking turns 24/7 at Pitié Salpétrière where the young racer from Bures-sur-Yvette was still in intensive care.

Out of danger in mid-October, but with many months of rehabilitation still ahead of him, Mathys had the joy of discovering the gift from his favorite rider, but also a personal message from Julian Alaphilippe and Philippe Gilbert (the most French of Belgian riders!) during a training ride.
