A few days before the professional road world championship, for which he is one of the favorites, we offer you a closer look at Julian Alaphilippe’s bike, a Specialized Tarmac S-Works Disc, just above the UCI weight limit.

Since the start of the season, Julian Alaphilippe has racked up victories on various terrains, from the Tour de San Luis in January to the Tour de France, where he won two stages and wore the yellow jersey for 14 days. After a well-deserved rest period in August, the rider who was world number 1 for several months hopes to win the world championship title next Sunday, at the head of a French team entirely dedicated to his cause.

Julian Alaphilippe wore the yellow jersey for 14 days in the Tour de France. He finished fifth in the final classification.

The Frenchman from the Deceuninck – Quick Step team has several bikes at his disposal, including a Specialized Tarmac S-Works, a Venge S-Works, and a Shiv TT for time trial events. All these models are exclusively equipped with disc brakes, whereas in 2018, Alaphilippe was still riding rim-brake Tarmacs. It is with this model that Julian Alaphilippe won most of his victories in 2019, from Strade Bianche in March to the Épernay stage of the Tour de France, including Milan – San Remo and La Flèche Wallonne.
