TRIATHLON – French Long Distance Championship (M): Sébastien Fraysse retains his title

The reigning French champion kept his crown. This morning, at the Lévézou L Triathlon (3-87-21 with 988 m of elevation gain on the bike leg), the event supporting the 2019 French Long Distance Championship, Sébastien Fraysse did not falter, winning a second consecutive French championship title.

Third at the Dubai Ironman last January, Sébastien Fraysse was among the day’s favorites, despite the absence of many specialists in the discipline (Cyril Viennot, Denis Chevrot, Bertrand Billard, to name but a few), and despite a road accident during training at the end of July, when he was hit by a car.

A battle with Arnaud Guilloux was expected, but the great fight did not happen, except on the bike.

Sébastien Fraysse, a former member of the French Open Water Swimming Team, exited the water first in 38’22. Arnaud Guilloux, from Brittany, who exited in 41’18, then began to gain time: 2’30 at km 17, 1’25 at km 46, he finally reached T2 with 1’11 behind the leader.

But on foot, the comeback ended and the gap between the two men widened, about 4′ ahead at the halfway point.

Sébastien Fraysse did not weaken and added a second French championship title to his record. Behind him, Arnaud Guilloux cracked and even finished off the podium, which was ultimately occupied by Arnaud Chivot (2nd) and Dylan Magnien (3rd).
