The Metz native, who exited the water a good minute after the best swimmers, caught all his competitors on the bike course, particularly in the Bourbonnais mountains, before reaching T2 with a 2’36 lead over his closest pursuers, Britain’s David McNamee and Germany’s Franz Loeschke.

Starting like a rocket on the run, at a pace of 3′ per kilometer, the duathlete maintained his lead during the first loop, but slightly slowed down on the second, allowing his competitors to gradually close the gap.

With a 1’27 lead still remaining at 2 km from the finish, the race was decided. Yohan Le Berre won ahead of the long-distance triathlon specialists. David McNamee took second place on the podium, 1’15 behind the winner, and Franz Loeschke was third at 1’52.
