To exercise without constraints while firmly supporting the chest and thus avoiding injuries or other unpleasant discomfort, or even damage, there are specific sports bras, of which the Anita Active brand is one of the specialists. We tested a high-end Momentum model. Verdict after several intense sessions in very hot conditions.

For us sportswomen, runners, triathletes, dancers, fitness girls and so on, those who seek comfort, support, and to accumulate sessions without worrying about our cleavage: yes, we like to be comfortable! I would have a hard time representing the female population with small breasts with my 90D that I’ve been carrying effortlessly since I was 13… I’m 42: my breasts and I know each other well now, even since I became a diligent sportswoman (late in life, but not without ambition).
The benefit of a suitable sports bra
The question is open and arises about the use or not of a sports bra well adapted to one’s sport. Opinions differ quite a bit on the subject, even if the medical community seems almost unanimous about its benefit. For my part, with a very compressive tri-suit, I have already done long-distance triathlons without wearing anything and I didn’t die. Nevertheless, after 21 km of pounding the pavement, I still felt the weight of my chest. So no, breasts don’t directly sag if you run a half-marathon without a bra, let’s stop the urban legends! But I have also tested sports bras that support so much they compress, sometimes even making breathing a little difficult, with a block-like “mono-breast” support that also causes chafing with the heart rate belt under the ribs, under the breasts, at the seams, closures, straps, folds, etc.

This kind of chafing takes some time to disappear and leaves marks on the skin. I am a runner, I am a Warrior… Well, anyway… All this is still not very aesthetic, you can play sports without ending up with marks. For the record, I found a solution: a pretty tattoo under the chest to hide the remnants of my various battles, it distracts attention. You do what you can, right!
Comfort and support
The Anita Active Momentum sports bra is therefore not the first of its kind that I have tested. We are talking more precisely about a sports bra here because it has two cups, which do not forget the curve of each breast and separate them well. And that makes a big difference. No one-piece design, therefore, and you have to choose your size carefully (but you normally know it, ladies!). Inside the cups there is a fabric that feels a bit like peach skin. It is indeed very soft and absorbent, a kind of big fluffy cocoon, without being too hot.

Relatively well adjusted, the size is good. Upon receipt, it seemed enormous to me but no, in fact, no extra space! A pleasant and soft high-tech material, I approve. A quick word about the packaging, since I’m mentioning my first contact with the product. Some of my male acquaintances – what a twisted mind! – had the impression of seeing packaging that evoked in them a product sold in very specialized, adult stores. Yet, I have already worn sexier sports bras.

The heatwave test
The material is advertised as breathable and allowing moisture wicking with quick drying. During my test on a heatwave day when it was well over 35 degrees, I had the idea of wetting it and going for a run with it. My chest stayed cool, I found it quite pleasant and it prevented me from overheating. Over 5 km during this run in extreme conditions, it was a bit short to get a full idea.

In terms of comfort, the Momentum benefits from wide straps, with an adjustable elastic band that provides firm support. It should be noted that the strap must first be adjusted correctly, neither too high nor too low. I appreciate the seamless finish to avoid chafing. Regarding the heart rate belt, you have to put it on first and then the sports bra. It either slides underneath or can go over it. On a 10 km run, I didn’t feel any discomfort!

I therefore ran with this sports bra, did yoga, cycled, I even dared to run with the cycling suit open over it to keep cooler. I wore it wet, then dry, and was able to sweat in it at will. I put it through the washing machine many times in a very short period.
High-end performance
The Anita Active Momentum sports bra fulfills its promise by providing comfort and support, in addition to a nice finish. In terms of price, it is a bit higher than average. Sports bras typically cost around €45, while the retail price of this model is €65. It’s a bit of a budget when you add everything up, but it’s not the kind of thing you change as often as a pair of running shoes. Also worth noting is the choice of colors. Personally, I’m not a big fan of fuchsia pink, but this one is still quite discreet (no candy pink, phew!).
