A record 4th edition for the Alpsman, which was sold out with 509 triathletes at the start of the Xtrem Triathlon du Lac d’Annecy, with exceptionally favorable weather conditions this year. This was an important factor for tackling an ultra-demanding course for body and mind: 3.8 km of swimming, 180 km of cycling (4,300 m D+) and the marathon with its trail section including 17 km of steep climbing (1,300 m D+) to reach the Semnoz overlooking Lake Annecy at an altitude of 1,700 m.
French double victory!
In the men’s race, Thomas Lemaitre, a Saint-Raphaël Triathlon licensee and former partner of Cédric Jacquot (winner of the first two editions), won in 11h 42min 59 sec. He exited the water in 51st position, but made a lightning-fast first transition to start the bike leg, his strong point, in 20th position. He managed to take the lead from Charles Bouin before the Col des Près and never relinquished it. Resisting both Bouin and the comeback of defending champion Jarmo Rissanen (78th after the swim, who couldn’t find a way to catch the top two), he crossed the finish line at the summit of Semnoz after 11h 42min and 59 sec of effort, finishing less than 7 minutes ahead of his pursuer.
Linda Guinoiseau without concession
On the women’s side, Issy Triathlon’s Linda Guinoiseau won masterfully, quickly taking the lead at the start of the bike leg on the descent from Semnoz and maintaining her effort to finish in 13h 49min 46sec, securing an exceptional 23rd place overall. The Flemish Natalie Franken finished 1h27 later at the summit of Semnoz.
