TRIATHLON – Date change imposed for the 2nd edition of the Corniche d’Or Triathlon

Due to a new event organized on the same day by the municipality of Saint-Raphaël, the race organization has no choice but to change the date initially scheduled for May 12 to June 2. Below is the press release from Denis Mortier, president of Saint-Raphaël Triathlon, explaining the reasons for this imposed change and providing further information on the holding of the race:

“An imposed date change”
Two months before the second edition of the Corniche d’Or triathlon, we are
forced to make a rare decision, so close to the event, but which is
imposed on us by the City of Saint-Raphaël: the triathlon scheduled for May 12, 2019, is postponed toSunday, June 2, 2019.

While the City has supported us from the beginning in our project to establish the triathlon
in the center of Saint-Raphaël, we learned only a few days ago of the
Municipality’s desire to host a Formula 1 “roadshow” on Sunday, May 12!
Given the constraints in terms of security and human resources, it was
impossible to organize both events on the same day. After working in concert with the Municipality and considering several options over the past few days, the date change was the only valid compromise we could agree on.

With regard to the triathletes already registered for the event, with regard to the partners who have placed their trust in us, with regard to the Provence-Alpes – Côte d’Azur Triathlon League which entrusted us with the organization of a stage of the regional Division 3 circuit, with regard to the 40 teams from 24 clubs in the region who will participate in this circuit, our responsibility is enormous, and we had to offer them a fallback solution.

It is also to honor our commitments that we are taking a few days to reflect, with the agreement of the League, to try to propose an event specific to D3 on May 12. We will inform you as soon as possible. Of course, athletes already registered for the S Open and M courses who will not be able to participate in the event on June 2 will be fully refunded. For all others, we look forward to seeing you on Sunday, June 2, under the same conditions and with the same program as initially planned.
